The UT Tyler Center for Writing Excellence provides a supportive and collaborative environment where students can improve their writing skills. Our consultants help students with all aspects of the writing process, from brainstorming and prewriting to drafting, revising, and editing.
We offer both 30 minute and 60 minute consultations for undergraduate and graduate students. Sessions are by appointment only.
The Expectations:
- Your appointment is a dedicated time for you to work on your writing task. Place your phone on silent and be prepared to stay for the duration of your appointment. Your consultants are not there to do the work for you but to talk you through your own writing process and assist you in developing as a writer.
- The Center for Writing Excellence is a quiet space. Please refrain from taking phone calls, talking loudly, or other disruptive behaviors while in the Center. See the Code of Conduct at our website for more details.
- You may make one appointment per day and two appointments per week.
- Arrive on time to your appointment. If you are more than ten minutes late, you will be marked as a no show. After three no shows, your WC Online account will be deactivated.
- Your appointment is confidential. We will not discuss your appointment with anyone, including your professors, without your consent. You may elect to have your client report sent to your instructor if you choose to do so.
